Stories From Our Black Books. Real Women. Real Stories.

Stories From Our Black Books may have begun innocently enough, but soon the dirt was being spilled and we have got it all from women just like you! These stories were too good to keep to ourselves...

Stories From Our Black Books' creator, Carissa Reiniger, realized this when she was approached by a Publisher to develop a book profiling the approximately 400 dates she had gone on in a three and a half year time frame. She quickly realized that she is not the only one with dirt to share, after all isn't our favourite pastime talking about men?

After spending a night doing just that at a local lounge, Reiniger went home and sent an email out to about 100 women she knew, asking them to send in their stories. Within six weeks hundreds of stories had filed in and media all across Canada had covered the story of Stories.

Stories From Our Black Books The Book was published and released in November of 2005 and quickly sold thousands of copies.

In the Spring of 2007 Reiniger was inspired to think about how to bring this project to life in the theatre. Within six months, Barbara Pollard was hired to adapt the book for the stage and the show had its world premier in Vancouver in September of 2007.

After a six week Western Canadian tour hitting Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary, Stories went back to into development and added original music, new stories and new ideas to the show. The show opens in Toronto in May of 2008 and continues its plans to bring The Book and Play into more markets in the near future.

In addition to The Book and The Play, more plans are underway to bring Real Women's Real Stories to life - watch for The Art Collection and more...and remember we always want to hear from you!
